Holywell Golf Club is probably unique in north Wales, a moorland course with that ‘linksy’ feel. No fancy design here but a course that has been developed from the ruggedness of Halkyn Mountain retaining many of its inherent features such as mining subsidence and limestone kilns as natural hazards together with the bracken and the gorse.
That is not to say that the greens have not received the attention they deserve, considerable resources have been devoted over the last few years by our Greens chairman and his staff to a point where our putting surfaces are second to none. Add to that the limestone nature of the subsoil giving a well-draining quality; we never have to play on temporary greens due to flooding.
After the golf, or before if you prefer, a hearty Welsh breakfast, we can offer catering and a welcome in the bar that is truly representative of the friendly and homely club that we are.
We welcome visitors Monday to Friday without reservation and Bank Holidays/Sundays by prior arrangement.
Modern changing facilities are available for ladies and gentlemen as well as buggy and trolley hire.
To put you in the 'zone' before your round there is a putting practice green together with a driving net and chipping area.
Our flat moorland course is ideal for visitors of all abilities with a good mix of par threes, fours and fives to test the more experienced golfer.
